Longueuil, September 25, 2026 – Agri-Traçabilité Québec (ATQ), now known as Attestra, was founded on September 25, 2001. Established as a joint initiative of the Union des producteurs agricoles (UPA), the Ministère de l’Agriculture, des Pêcheries et de l’Alimentation du Québec (MAPAQ) and La Financière agricole du Québec (FADQ), ATQ was entrusted with an ambitious mission: to develop, implement and operate a new identification and traceability system that would make an important contribution to food safety and the competitiveness of Québec’s agri-food sector. This innovative partnership addressed the challenges raised by the food safety crises of the 1990s and quickly established Québec as a leader in traceability.

Over the past 25 years, much more than just a traceability system has emerged: it is a story of vision, innovation and confidence building that has unfolded through a series of achievements and partnerships. From its early initiatives in the livestock sector to its current influence in fields as diverse as the traceability of excavated contaminated soil, the fight against antibiotic resistance and the management of companion animals, Attestra has continually broadened its horizons and pushed the boundaries of its expertise.
